fat pants

I recently went through my closet to get rid of all of my clothes that don't fit anymore. I took all these pants off the hangers to give away, and then after thinking about it I folded them all up and put them back in my closet. The pants are all too big. They are mostly size 10s and 8s and currently I'm in a size 6. I started in a size 16.

When we were moving I got rid of all my size 16s, 14s, and 12s. I think I would have tried to hang on to them if we weren't moving. I'm still not convinced that I'm not going to get fat again. When I was going to get a bag to put all the pants in I started thinking how crappy it would be to get fat again AND have to buy new clothes...that is when I put the pants back in the closet.

My weight loss journey is sort of on hold right now. I'm still journaling all my food, and running but I think I'm going to wait until the New Year and then try and lose the last 10 pounds. I am going to try and hold at my current weight until then.

This last weekend was my first race. I did a 10K with my sister and her husband and it was awesome. I finished in 1:04 and I was 19th out of 43 for my age/gender. I was stupidly excited to be number 19! It was such a rush to finish and to beat people who were younger and skinnier than me. I loved it, and this morning I spent time looking for the next race. I think I'm going to do a 12K in December called the 12 Ks of Christmas!

Anyway, I got off my point...the pants...what should I do with them?

My first instinct is to say GET RID OF THEM. You're not going back to them...you're a freakin' runner now, a half marathoner (almost). I think size 6 is there to stay! And really? Ten more pounds? You look great to me!

That's just my two cents.

Get rid of them. You are not going back. Put them in your car and drive, right now, to your local Goodwill and let someone else, who might be on THEIR journey down, use them. You will never have a need for those pants again!

Congrats on the run - you are such an inspiration...your first race and you came in 19th?!? Freaking awesome!!!

Before I read Davs and Shelley's comments, I was thinking, get rid of them! You aren't going to get fat again.

I am with Shelley. Give them to someone else who is in their journey down and let them have them.
Having said that, I still have all my clothes from my current size to size 12 and maternity just in case. I have separated maternity from my "big girl" clothes, but I still have them just in case I may need elastic band pants in the future and not because I am pregnant either. Insecurities and insecurities.

I hold on to mine, because my weight goes so up and down!

But, I do think it's better to get rid of them, like everyone said.

Congrats on the race!

get rid of those fat girl pants.
sell them on ebay. if you sell them as a "lot", a stack that size could easily get you $20, if not more. not a windfall by any means, but a nice bottle of wine.

or give them away via Freecycle and you'll get that warm i did something good feeling. if youre into that kinda thing.

congrats on the weight loss and the race this past weekend. im immensely proud of you and your sister and i only sorta know you guys. you both have motivated me to take my own workouts up a notch.

btw: that is the cutest cat EVER.

dude, i'm a pack rat so my first thought is save them, BUT, i think you won't ever wear them again. and, seeing your race picture i can't imagine why you think you need to lose 10 more pounds! you look great and healthy--that's a good thing. size six??? lord i think one of my thighs is a size six.
